Lecturer
  • PhD in Geophysics, Geosciences, or a related Electrical Engineering discipline with an emerging research track record.
  • Some experience in managing geophysical instrumentation, ideally including seismic, electromagnetic, and potential field methods.
  • Sound knowledge of electronics, signal processing, and instrumentation engineering principles.
  • Experience with geodata processing and management platforms, such as SEG-Y, GIS systems, Earthworm, or ObsPy, and programming in Python, MATLAB, or similar environments.
  • Experience and familiarity in the creation and maintenance of integrated relational geodatasets and geodatabases across a wide array of platforms (e.g., Microsoft Access, Micromine, Leapfrog, Datamine, etc) and programming in those particular standards (i.e. VBA, SQL, Python).
  • Demonstrated ability to train and supervise students, particularly in field methods and instrumentation use.
  • Familiarity with computing environments and IT infrastructure (e.g., managing Linux- and PC-based computing clusters or cloud-based data systems).
  • A developing track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Evidence of independent research and research funding would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and support a vibrant academic community.

Lecturer  The School invites applications for the above position. Applicants should hold a coursework Masters in Economics with an excellent academic record. Teaching experience in Econometrics and international finance is required. Further, proficiency in R along with ability to teach econometrics using R Statistical Software is essential. Additionally, a research focus grounded in firm level analysis is desirable. 30 September 2025
Senior Researcher/Researcher Requirements: 
•    A PhD in Palaeobotany, Palynology, or a related specialization in Micropalaeontology, past environments, past climates, past vegetation to complement the existing research strengths of the Institute.
•    The successful candidate will have an excellent research track record of peer-reviewed publications in accredited journals and conference presentations.  Evidence of independent research and ability to raise research funding is a requirement.
•    Must have established collaborations and research projects both local and international.
•    Teaching experience in palaeobotany, palynology, or palaeoenvironments.
•    Demonstrated ability to train and supervise postgraduate students.
•    Ability to conduct successful fieldwork- and laboratory-based research campaigns.
•    Excellent communication skills, both media and outreach, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and support a vibrant academic community.

Head of School – School of Literature Such an individual should be in possession of a PhD and is at the rank of either an Associate Professor or Full Professor; have a strong record of teaching and research in any of the literature, language and media disciplines and would be expected to retain a commitment to teaching and research in their discipline alongside the very considerable administrative responsibilities involved in leading the School. The individual should have a demonstrable track-record of academic and strategic leadership as well as hands-on management experience within a university. In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven record of effective financial and human resources management and possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills. There should be evidence of the candidate’s ability to maintain and extend the School’s existing international partnerships, and its engagements with the rest of Africa in the interests of enhancing the School’s academic and research profile. Finally, as the Head of School, the candidate in collaboration with the departments and research entities will be required to articulate a clear vision and set the direction of the School within the wider mission of the Faculty and University and to lead and manage the School in meeting its strategic goals. Senior Lecturer The School invites applications for the permanent position of Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering. REQUIREMENTS: • A Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Structural Engineering). • A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, and • Evidence of teaching, research and successful higher degree supervision in Structural Engineering.
